Removal of the main hatch slider is necessary to access the traveler bottom nuts. It’s quite straight forward and not difficult. The hatch slides into the cover ahead of the dodger. (Pic #1) Remove the cover and the hatch is exposed. The forward wood end of the slider is the stop. I cut away just enough of the hatch end to allow the hatch to bypass the stop. The hatch is now out and the traveler bolts exposed. I made a new wood plate to screw the piece I cut off to the end of the hatch. To remove and replace the hatch for access, varnishing or maintenance, I just remove the deck cover, 6 screws on the end plate and it’s out 10 minutes! You can see my new Garhauer traveler and curved track in the photos. Email me if you need any other details. Bill Reynolds S/V Baidarka Tashiba 40 #149 sail23692@gmail.com
