Mast step replacement. A repressed memory. Plywood encased in fiberglass rotted out (surprise!) so same encasement now contains 2.25" Al plate embedded in Chockfast, a marine bedding compound, and West system epoxy (we tinted it blue). The gold is the mast socket (all Al was coated in zinc chromate), held down by four tapped 1/2" bolts. Missing in image is the 100 peso silver coin that went in just before mast was reset (the second time). Original rebuilt stepping was 5mm out on 250mm run (1:50 pitch) and the mast leaned against the cabin top. An Al shim corrected that for the second stepping. $60 per step in Mexico, not bad... Michael
