About the pictures of the Bristol 53.3 @ Baja Naval boatyard in Ensenada, BC, Mexico. I was the customer’s agent for this extensive overhaul. The pictures posted only illustrate the condition of the boat when it come into the yard: Photo #1 with the hull below the water line taken down for a bonding/primer coat. Photo #2 shows the prep work on the hull. If you enlarge photo #1 you will see irregularities and an uneven hull above the water line. The hull was faired, which is a laborious task of “long boarding” to fill and remove all uneven surfaces, i.e., “fairing”. Photo #3 shows the finish paint work with the boat in the travel lift. There are more photos, I probably have a 100 or so since the customer was very particular and required frequent progress reports. Other repairs included rudder shaft and heel, retractable keel, new fuel tanks, fuel delivery and polishing system, new interior planked teak and holly deck, and extensive detail work. Let me know if there are any questions or need for more photos to illustrate possible repairs in this yard. I work closely with Baja Naval and know the entire staff, so if anyone is coming this way and or have questions concerning repairs in this neck of the woods let me know.
